Zinfandel

Although long known as ‘California’s own Vine and Wine’, Zinfandel finds its roots in southern Italy. It produces an extremely robust wine with a broad range of flavor profiles depending on the climate of where it is grown. Dominant red berry fruits like raspberry are found in wines from cooler areas while blackberry, anise and pepper notes are more common in wines made in warmer areas. Zinfandel flourishes in many farming regions in California however only certain California regions are regarded as exceptional and each offers a unique perspective on flavor profile. California AVAs such as Amador, Santa Cruz Mountains, Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley & Russian River Valley, Paso Robles, Napa Valley, Mendocino and Lodi are notable homes to excellent Zinfandel in the red style.
