Syrah

Syrah is grown in many countries but grew to fame in the Northern Rhone of France. It is primarily used to produce powerful red wines, which enjoy great popularity in the international marketplace. Syrah is synonymous with Shiraz and should not be confused with ‘Petite Sirah’ , another grape variety altogether. Syrah produces wines with a broad range of flavor profiles. Aromas can exhibit from dark berries to fragrant violet, dark chocolate, black pepper and espresso. Blackberry and pepper are often telltale signs. Bottle age tends to give way to leather and truffle notes in the nose. California Syrahs, vary a great deal based on terroir that they inhabit and in generous areas such as Napa, the decision to blend with other Rhone Varietals creates wines of exceptional character.
