PERRIN CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE

Chateauneuf du Pape is a French wine appellation that was first made famous by 14th Century popes when they temporarily moved the papacy from Rome to France. This red variety from Roger Perrin is a blend of Grenache (76%), Syrah (12%), Mourvedre (7%), Cinsault (3%), Clairette (2%) and Vaccarese (2%). The average age of the vines is 60 years and the oldest are 100 years. The grapes are harvested by hand and the wines blended after one year. The nose gives raspberry and fresh strawberry while the pallet is fruity with red berries and a soft mouthfeel while the finish is long and spicy.
