Cabernet Sauvignon

Known as The ‘King’ of grape varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon is arguably the world’s most widely recognized red wine grape variety and is successfully grown in most wine producing regions. It began its international reign of recognition via its foothold in Bordeaux as the basis for the utmost in noteworthy wines. In California, Cabernet Sauvignon has developed its characteristic style and reputation, recognizable the world over. The 1976 Judgment of Paris wine tasting event catapulted Californian Cabernet Sauvignons onto the international stage and solidified its reputation when Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' 1973 Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon beat out classified Bordeaux estates in a tasting presided over by French wine experts.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a very bold and assertive wine characterized by intense dark fruit flavors, dark cherry, cedar, tobacco, and black currant. Cooler climate growth can contribute to a green pepper or olive flavor.
