DETAILS

This classic brand has been around since the 1860s but you may encounter some confusion if you are familiar with the old blended whiskey that carries the same name.
The blend is linked with the same family but it was not bourbon. They shared the same name because, for a long time, the Four Roses Bourbon was only available outside of America.
During its exile it became one of the world's most popular whiskeys and now Americans have the chance to discover what all the
fuss is about.
Its flavor is distinctive and it has been made in the same way for generations.
The whiskey is aged in one-storey warehouses rather than the more
typical multi-storey facilities that provide a wider temperature variation.
It is this that ensures each bottle has a consistent flavor.
While the whiskey has been in production since the 1860s, it was during prohibition that the Paul Jones Company purchased the Frankfort Distilling Company - one of only six distilleries allowed to continue to operate to provide medicinal bourbon.
It became a well-known brand and in 1943 was purchased by Seagram. It was Seagram's who started exporting Four Roses Bourbon rather than making it available in the US and it wasn't until the Kirin Brewery Company took over in 2002 that it was returned to American shelves.
