SMITH + CROSS RUM
Smith & Cross have a tradition of bottling rum that goes back to 1788, making it one of England's oldest producers of Jamaica's famous liquor. The tradition began when the British Empire started trading vast amounts of Caribbean sugar and rum through the Port of London. England became the world's major trading hub for the Caribbean's two biggest exports and vast vaults of rum soon collected along the River Thames. Containing only distillates from the Wedderburn and Plummer pot stills Smith & Cross is famed for its notes of exotic fruits and spice and complexity. The blend contains equal parts Wedderburn and Plummer, the former aged for less than one year, the latter for between 18 months and three years in white oak barrels. The result is a spicy, flavorful rum with a hint of, but not too much, oak.
