The 1796 bottle is Santa Teresa's signature rum and it is a premium Venezuelan anejo. It was launched in 1996 to mark the 200th anniversary of Santa Teresa and has firmly established itself with multiple awards and lavish praise from all over the world. It is a unique rum, made from a 25-year-old distillation that is blended with pure anejos. It is then aged using the Solera method - a process originally developed by European Sherry and Brandy producers. The method requires four barrels to be stacked, one above the other. The rum is then allowed to pass slowly through each barrel before finally ageing in large French oak vats. As it moves slowly from barrel to barrel it achieves a smooth, mature and balanced body.
