Before Prohibition, New York had boasted some fine whiskey distilleries but they were largely killed off during the dry years. Indeed, the basis for the Manhattan cocktail is rye and it was this spirit that was most commonly created in New York. Tuthilltown Spirits reignited the old traditions in the Hudson Valley in 2002 with this brand. The grain that goes into this rye is harvested by farmers less than ten miles from their facility. Hudson Manhattan has that recognizable rye edge but there is a nice fruity, smooth tone to it. Each bottle is hand-filled, capped, waxed and numbered.
