Glenrothes is a Speyside distillery in the town of Rothes, at the foot of the Mannoch Hills and beside the Rothes burn (stream). The water that goes into the whisky comes from two nearby springs, imparting a flavor that is unique to the Glenrothes brand. This vintage follows the 1991 and 1994 Glenrothes and is the first to have been laid down at origin to be bottled as Glenrothes on maturity. As such, there is a greater availability than the previous bottlings and it has been exported across the world to great acclaim. Its creator, Gordon Motion, described it thus: "It's said that pictures speak a thousand words and this is like Carmen Miranda's hat in a bottle. Tropical fruits lead with pineapple and mango developing into sweet bananas, coconut and classic Glenrothes vanilla pods." Its flavor is typical of whisky from Glenrothes, where sherry and bourbon casks are carefully chosen for the special mix of spiciness and fruitiness that they will impart.
