ARDBEG SINGLE MALT 10 YEAR
This gem was nearly lost to the world in the 1980s when a downturn in whisky consumption caused the distillery to shut down. Thankfully it was revived in 1997 by Glenmorangie and is now among the fastest growing malts in the world. Its creators on the Peat-filled island of Islay boast that this is the peatiest and smokiest Scotch of all. The peat content is 50ppm (50 parts per million) as opposed to 20 to 40ppm for other malts. But there is a subtle sweetness there too, infused into the Scotch by ageing in bourbon barrels. This bottle also has the distinction of being Ardbeg's first non-chill filtered whisky.
