SINGLE MALT CONNOISSEUR
Our Single Malt club is a great way to explore the world of Scotch. At Cask we are always on the lookout for the unique and delicious and when we find something we really love we save it exclusively for our members.
Newcomers are always welcome so if you're wondering how it works; it's pretty simple: Members receive a bottle of single barrel Scotch at an unbeatable price every two months. The barrel is selected by the staff at Cask for exceptional flavor and quality and will be available exclusively to our members. You can either collect the bottle at the store at 17 Third Street or we will ship it to you.
We charge the price to your credit card and guarantee that the bottle will never cost more than $130. Usually it is a lot less than that.
The club is a great way to develop your understanding of whisky, giving you the chance to discover new distilleries and styles as you experience the myriad aging, finishing, fermenting and distilling techniques that create the many expressions of Scotch.
Among our favorites over the past year was the Bunnahabhainn Toiteach, which our members got for a bargain $80. A smokey, peated Islay whisky with lots of lush tones and spice, the Toiteach was rather special. Club members can still get a bottle; just give us a call or drop into the store.
Then there was the Flaming Heart from Compass Box. We get requests for Flaming Heart from bar owners, whisky collectors and enthusiasts all the time but we decided to give this to our club because we knew it would leave a lasting impression. Unlike our typical offerings, it is a blend, but of such high quality we were confident it would be a hit.
We recently selected Gordon & McPhail's Private Collection, a bottling of Ledaig that had been finished in French wine barrels. A mouthwatering mix of fruit, chocolate, nut, brown sugar, spice and leather flavors and aromas, it is an instant classic and a Scotch we are proud to offer.
Our latest offering was Glendronach 14 Sauternes finish. Glendronach is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, dating back to 1826. Its typical expression is famed for having a decadent sherried presence but our club bottling is something different. It spent 13 years and six months in first growth Chateau d'Yquem Sauternes barrels, making it deliciously atypical for Glendronach with lots of buttery toasted malt, hazelnut, lemon curd and sweet biscuit on the nose and a rich pallet of honey, baking spice and blood orange zest. Unfortunately, it is a limited offering and not available to new club members as we have already run out.
We will have lots more to offer in the coming months so if you're interested in joining the club, just click the link at the top of the page.

AMERICAN WHISKEY EXPLORER
American whiskey's popularity has risen rapidly in recent years, and rightly so. American distillers are making some outstanding spirits and through experimentation with mash-bills, barrel aging, blending and distilling techniques they are creating lots of different styles for the enthusiast to explore and enjoy.
Through the American Whiskey Explorer Club the staff at Cask can offer a guiding hand through this world of exploration. Members receive a bottle every three months. Each offering is selected by the staff - that's Amanda, Amy, Jake, Lisa, Adam and Adrienne - and can be a small batch release from an established distillery, a newly discovered whiskey that plays with mash bills and cask finishing, or a rare special release. We automatically charge your credit card and promise the bottle will never cost more than $85 and usually it is less.
Over the past year members of our American Whiskey Explorer Club have been treated to some gems from around the US. Among the most unusual was the Doubled & Twisted whiskey from California's Charbay distillery. We liked this offering so much we bought the whole lot and made it available exclusively to our members. Made by distilling a double hopped Californian beer, it was such a success that Charbay has developed it into a regular product named R5.
We got great feedback from the Hooker's House Bourbon, another whiskey with close ties to California. Hooker's House is a Kentucky bourbon finished in Pinot Noir barrels in Sonoma Valley. Amanda and Amy went to the warehouse to select the best barrel and made that available to club members only. Fruity and complex with lots of caramel balanced by spice from the high-rye mash bill, it was a real treat and remains among our most sought-after spirits at the store.
The coming months promise even greater excitement as we seek out more hidden gems for our members. If you love American whiskey and want to be a part of this club, just click the link above.
Good health!
